How to identify Hot Wheels cases

U.S. Card

The Audi quattro, introduced in 1980, revolutionized the automotive world with its innovative all-wheel drive system.

The origins of Audi's quattro technology can be traced to winter testing in Sweden during 1976-77, where a Volkswagen Iltis military vehicle with all-wheel drive outperformed more powerful front-wheel drive Audi prototypes in snow.

International Card

This led to the development of quattro technology, made possible by a hollow secondary shaft in the transmission that efficiently distributed power to both the front and rear axles.

The hollow shaft design allowed for a lightweight, compact, and efficient AWD system, eliminating the need for heavy transfer cases and making the technology suitable for sporty, mass-production vehicles.

Short Card

The quattro concept debuted in the 1980 Audi quattro at the Geneva Motor Show, featuring 200 horsepower, and was produced until 1991.

The Audi quattro was the first rally car to capitalize on newly modified rules that allowed four-wheel drive in competition racing, dominating the World Rally Championship for several years.

Loose

To honor the success of the original model, all subsequent Audi production vehicles equipped with this four-wheel-drive system bear the trademark "quattro," featuring a distinctive lowercase "q."
