Hot Wheels Proton Saga Special Edition

Hot Wheels Proton Saga Special Edition

The Hot Wheels Proton Saga Special Edition features the same 1985 Proton Saga that debuted in the 2024 Hot Wheels mainline set but with a special blister card.

The Special Edition packaging is decorated with hand-drawn artwork created by 9-year-old Saw Jane Harn from Penang, Malaysia. Her design won the Hot Wheels x Proton Kids Design Competition last year.

The Proton Saga was launched in 1985 and was the first domestically produced car in Malaysia. Made by Proton, the original Saga was based on the second-generation Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore. Saga is an acronym for Safety, Achievement, Greatness, and Ability.

386 children between the ages of 4 and 12 entered the Hot Wheels x Proton Kids Design Competition to create a blister card that captures the essence of "A Malaysian National Car". Saw Jane Harn won and is the first kid in the world to have her artwork displayed on Hot Wheels packaging.

Her artwork on the blister card includes Malaysia's national flower the hibiscus rosa-sinesis, a Malayan tiger, a hornbill bird, the Tugu Negara national monument, and the Petronas Towers which are in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Saw Jane Harn

If you compare Saw Jane Harn's original artwork with the Special Edition release, you can see that the flag of Malaysia was replaced with "Malaysia" and addition drawings.

In Malaysia, The Proton Saga is an extremely popular and highly sought-after Hot Wheels casting. It immediately gets snatched from the pegs like JDMs and other hot cars.

Unfortunately, the Proton Saga Special Edition is available exclusively in Malaysia but you can find it on eBay.
