The Hot Wheels '70 Plymouth AAR Cuda was designed by Phil Riehlman and made its debut in the 2009 New Models series.

Built for just one model year, the AAR ’Cuda was a high-performance version of the Barracuda created to support Plymouth’s Trans Am racing program. “AAR” stands for All American Racers, the team led by Dan Gurney that raced the car.

Power came from a 340 cubic-inch V8 with a “Six Barrel” setup using three two-barrel carburetors. The engine was rated at 290 hp, though actual output was higher, and it used a strengthened block designed for racing use.

The AAR ’Cuda featured several upgrades over the standard Barracuda, including heavy-duty suspension, performance tuning, and a dual exhaust system that exited in front of the rear wheels. This side-exit exhaust became one of its most recognizable features.

It was also the first production car to use different tire sizes front and rear, with smaller tires in front and wider tires in back for better traction and balance. This setup was directly influenced by Trans Am racing.

Visually, the car stood out with a matte black fiberglass hood, hood scoop, side stripes and AAR graphics. It also included a ducktail rear spoiler and small front spoiler pieces, along with 15-inch wheels and a lower stance.
Plymouth built 2,724 AAR ’Cudas during its single year of production in 1970.
